From the GT site
" The giant rocks and winding canyons of Monument Valley intertwine with the great outdoors to provide a brilliant chess match throughout eighteen holes. The courses in 2010 are unlike any you've ever played. "

I really like this course. Had some really neat shots that I have never seen before. Several over and under shots. I was really impressed. I think they did a great, I mean really great job on this course. Good job IT.

Thanks buddy. :P

My personal favorite as well. Hole 18 is awesome, especially with a tough cross wind.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I think you will see much less play on Monument Valley than on the other courses, and mostly because of 18. Not awesome at all, just silly and not fun. Certainly not for the "regular" player.

Maybe worse than Grand Savanna 17. Reminds me of Heather Point 18, in tough setups it's basically unplayable.

Sorry, but Monument Valley seems like a gimmick course to me.

Depends what you would refer to as a gimmick, Milkman. If you consider rocks coming into play a gimmick, than I suppose you are correct. There really is only one true "trick shot" on the entire course, and even that isn't an easy shot all the time. The risk vs. reward on this course is higher than any other in 2010, which is why I like it.

In terms of the 18th hole, I personally think 18 of Bella Toscana is a much tougher for me personally but perhaps you share a different opinion. I have yet to see a wind where I feel the hole (18 of Monument) is unplayable - and I've seen a few toughies. With that being said, I've plopped my fair share of balls into the water as well. I am far from being "great" at this game, but I consider it to be a fair and reasonable challenge.

P.S. I think you just sparked a good Golden Tee Blog article, so I thank you for that my friend.

Monument Valley is easily my favorite course of 2010 so far! I love it. It's challenging but fun, and it keeps you coming back wanting to try those shots again.

What's that "trick shot" you mentioned there, eh?
got anything to do with that Hole-n-Win par 4 w/ the HUGE rock blocking the green? The one where you feel like shooting a c-3 everytime, but it NEVER works? I would love a tip there.

Or is it the semi-drivable par 4 with the ramp-looking rock on the left side?

Was that comment supposed to be a tease or should everyone already know the shot?

C'mon man, that's messed up!!! You oughtn't toy with folks like that. [-X

Putz.
That big rock is easy to go over. Take a 3 wood straight at the pin every time, maybe even a 5.
That is not the trick shot he is talking about. When you figure it out, you will know.

There are several candidates, it could be the one where you hit a 3 or 4 iron under the rock ledge that crosses the fairway so the ball rolls under it into just about the only position to go for the green. If you miss it off the tee, it's still better to putt on the fairway and go under the rock...

Maybe I was a bit cranky, to call it a gimmick course. I am a cranky old man, after all. I haven't actually had too much trouble with Monument Valley. I haven't figured out the right clubs to use, and miss going around or over some of the rocks off the tee. 18 has only got me bad a couple of times. But the reaction from the regular players I've seen is pretty negative. A lot like Grand Savanna, actually, a lot of guys don't want to play it at all because of the too frequent blowups.

Actually, I do think 18 is kinda gimmicky. 18 miles wind, up 10, seems like the only way to stay on the green is to go over it just a bit and let the ball roll back on and hope it stays.

By the way, I played one game last night on Monument Valley, and 18 was about as hard as I have ever seen it. I had a huge wind in my face and hit it about directly in the center of the water. Very tough look.

With that being said, it's still my favorite course.

I was in second place the other night -21 going into 18. Cincinasti was in first with a -21 and more GSP's. I figured all I had to do was birdie for first. I wanted the -23 though. 15 mph wind in the face. I slam a driver, landed on the green about pin high and rolled back in the water. Chipped on and took my second place.

I like this course. Don't really think 18 is a "gimmick" hole, just challenging. Thumbed a 3W with a big tailwind. Green held fine.

I agree also Monument is my favorite this year followed closely by Southern Oaks.I really feel I have more control over my shots, compared to Black Hills last year where some holes I just had to [-o<
