Information below has been updated below as of August 13th, 2003 .......................................................................

Here is the basic information regarding qualifying for Team USA. Team USA will compete against an international team at the 2003 Golden Tee World Championship to be held in Orlando at Friday’s Front Row sports bar on November 16 - 18, 2003. Individual competition will also be held during this event with a total purse of $57,000. All 16 members of Team USA will win an all-expenses paid trip to Orlando and are guaranteed of winning at least $1,000. The World Champion will win $15,000.

Team USA will consist of 16 players: 10 from the Gold Division, 4 from the Silver Division, and 2 from the Bronze Division.

5 Gold Division players are exempt from qualifying and form the nucleus of the team: 2003 Golden Tee National Champion, Ryan Bourgeois (captain); Graig Kinzler, 2002 Golden Tee World Champion; 2002 Golden Tee Players of the Year, Dean Liakakos and
Jason Matkovich; and former 3-time Golden Tee National Champion, Steve Sobe.

All players compete online for one of 72 spots (24 from each division) in the live Team USA qualifier to be held in the Chicago area at Official's Time Out sportsbar in Hoffman Estates on October 17-19. 5 of the 24 Gold qualifiers will make the team. 4 of the 24 Silver qualifiers will make the team. 2 of the 24 Bronze qualifiers will make the team. All players will compete within their division and play a 54-hole qualifier with the low shooters in each division making the team. All players will be responsible for their travel and hotel accommodations for the live qualifier.

1. Online qualifying starts on July 1 at 12:01 a.m. and ends at 11:59 p.m. September 30.

2. In order to qualify for the live event a player must post at least 30 “blind” scores during the 92-day online qualifying period. All players are allowed to post up to 92 scores (one each day for 92 days).

3. Only a player’s best blind score each day will count toward the competition. For example, Joe Smith plays 4 blind games on July 6. Only his one best blind score from that day will count.

4. The stroke average of the best 30 scores will determine a player’s ranking. For example, if Joe Smith plays 46 of the 92 days, we will still only take the stroke average of his best 30 day’s scores. If a player plays all 92 days, again only his top 30 day’s scores will count.

5. A “blind” score is defined as an 18-hole single-player League game with no online opponent. For example, Joe Smith and Bill Jones get together for a round of Golden Tee after work. They choose a 2-player League game. That game will NOT count toward Team USA qualifying. Tom Wilson plays a single-player League game and selects playing with the online opponent. That game will NOT count. Les Brown selects a 9-hole single-player game. That game will NOT count.

6. There is no limit to the number of blind games a player can shoot in one day - but only the best score will count. You can even play on multiple machines in the same day - there is no need to play on only one machine. All scores must be shot on the original 2004 GTGA League courses ONLY! Those courses are: Tropical Falls, Sword's Pointe, Heartland Creek, Blue Horizon, and Eagle's Peak. The two new 2004 add-on courses, Cedar Meadows and Shadow Swamp are NOT eligible!

7. A player’s ranking will be determined by his stroke average in relation to par. If a tie or ties exist for the last qualifying spot, we will invite all those players to the live event. Those players who finish 25 – 36 in each division will be invited to attend the live qualifier as alternates and will be invited to participate in the qualifier in the event that a spot or spots open.

8. The division that a player will compete in will be the highest division he ever qualified for in the ITS prior to July 1. For example, Joe Smith is currently in the Bronze Division, but 2 years ago Joe qualified for Silver and cashed in 2 tournaments. Joe will compete in the Silver Division. Bill Jones qualified for Gold last year but never competed at that level and has since fallen back to Silver. Bill will compete in the Gold Division. Jim Green has always competed in the Bronze Division since starting ITS play last January. If he moves up to Silver in August, he will continue to play in Bronze for the remainder of the online qualifier. This will have no effect on his ITS ranking - he will start to play in Silver come September.

9. There is no restriction as to which courses to play. All the scores can be shot on any one course or any combination of courses. All scores must be shot on the 2004 courses ONLY! For a list of eligible courses - see item 6.

10. The top 250 qualifiers from each division will win a commemorative Gold Card.

11. The top 100 qualifiers from each division will win the Gold Card and a t-shirt.

12. The top 50 qualifiers from each division will win the Gold Card, t-shirt, and a cap.

13. The top 24 qualifiers from each division will get all that stuff AND the invitation to the live qualifying tournament.
