Geoff is representing the new South African team at this year's World Championship as their champion.

Most of the South Africans are relatively new at Golden Tee since the game is less than 2 years old there, but Geoff has made a firm commitment to the video sport. He plays 10-12 hours each week at Jack's Sports Bar in Port Elizabeth and cites the competitiveness of the game as its most compelling feature.

Winnie the Pooh is his daughter's favorite Disney character and Geoff plans to please Kerri Leigh by bringing home a stuffed version of the little bear. We're sure his wife would like him to bring home the $15,000 champion's check!

When asked his thoughts about representing his country at the World's, Geoff responded, "This has just been a great experience and I'm looking forward to competing against the best in the world."

Geoff is competing as a last-minute replacement for Justin Hook. Justin [bio below] is recuperating from an auto accident that will keep him at home. We wish Justin a speedy recovery and hope to see him here next year.

Geoff has been playing Golden Tee longer than anyone else in South Africa. As an employee of K&W Amusements, it’s Geoff’s job to promote Golden Tee in South Africa.

When off the clock, Geoff likes to spin the trackball at Jades Pub in Port Elizabeth. He practices 12 hours per week and says his family is very supportive of his Golden Tee playing.

The Disney character he most resembles is Pluto because, “He’s a cool, relaxed dude.”

When asked his thoughts about making the team as an alternate, Geoff replied, “Justin deserves to be here and it’s a shame he can’t make it. I plan to do my best in him place. I’m very excited to compete.”

Justin has been playing Golden Tee only since February of this year. But in that short period of time he's made incredible progress in his quest to become the best in his country.

Jaz plays about 20 hours each week at his favorite pub, Crusaders Arms. He enjoys drinking lager and plays real golf, sporting a 16 handicap. When asked what motivates him to play so much, he simply said "winning".

His favorite cartoon character is the Tasmanian Devil. "He's wild and unpredictable - just like me!"

When asked his thoughts about representing South Africa in its first appearance in the Golden Tee World Championship, Justin said, "It's exciting and a great opportunity."

This newly crowned Australian champion enjoys playing his Golden Tee at the Nash Hotel in Richmond, Victoria. And the management of the Nash must be very pleased since he usually plays over 10 hours each week!

Not one to get too tipsy while playing, Danny's favorite beverage is Coke. He lists basketball as another hobby and says it's the camaraderie and friendships that he likes best about Golden Tee.

Danny's favorite cartoon character is the Road Runner because "no matter how hard you try - you just can't stop him!"

When asked his thoughts about representing Australia at the Worlds, Danny remarked, "I'm excited and thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and play against the best Golden Tee players in the world!"

This is Nathan's second trip to the Worlds and he couldn't be happier. Last year Nathan finished in the top 8 for the World Team and is looking to improve on that finish this year.

Nathan's favorite place to play Golden Tee is the Kambah Tavern where you can find him sipping a James Squire Pale Ale between shots. Nathan claims it's "the competition with mates" that keeps his interest high in Golden Tee. His family is very supportive of his Golden Tee playing since he's now been able to visit his mother in California twice as a result of his winning a trip to the States to compete in the Worlds.

Nathan says Goofy is his favorite Disney character since he's always in a good mood and never takes himself too seriously. When asked about representing Australia again, Nathan said, "I've improved my game a notch, and I'm hoping to go further in the tournament this year. I had a great time last year and am very excited to play in the Worlds again."

Maz is back again, but this time as the New Zealand national champion!

A regular at the Station Café, Martin enjoys drinking beer and watching his favorite rugby teams while playing. An avid golfer, Martin is an 8 handicapper.

When asked what he likes best about Golden Tee, Martin said the "virtual reality" of the game is what does it for him.

I guess we can call Martin Maz or Taz since he lists the Tasmanian Devil as his favorite cartoon character!

Martin says that "the chance to mix it up with the best in the world" makes the Worlds an "unbelievable experience".

Michael Norman  New Zealand  AKA: "Mike" Age: 48 Hometown: Auckland, New Zealand Marital Status: Married (Michelle)	Statistics:

The newest member of Team New Zealand hails from Auckland on the North Island. Mike started playing Golden Tee about 15 months ago and averages 4 to 5 hours per week.

Mike's wife, Michelle and daughter, Jade, are very supportive of his Golden Tee hobby and hopes he brings home the World Championship title - along with the check for $15,000!

New Zealand All Golds is Mike's favorite place to play Golden Tee and beer is his favorite drink. Mike enjoys real golf and is a 9 + handicapper.

His favorite Disney character is Donald Duck because "he's a duck with ATTITUDE!"

When asked how he felt to represent New Zealand in the World's Mike simply answered: "Honored".

One of 2 rookies on Team Canada, JD is the lone member from outside Ontario.

JD enjoys playing real golf and is a 9-handicapper. He's been playing and practicing Golden Tee 20 hours per week in preparation for the Worlds, and feels he's prepared to help his World squad teammates beat the Americans and give the Cup a new home.

He cites the "competition" as the reason he enjoys Golden Tee so much, and is very proud to represent Canada and the World Team.

A regular at Sharkey's, Enzo enjoys a hot cup of coffee while playing and practicing. He first started playing Golden Tee in 2000 and plays 10-15 hours each week.

Besides Golden Tee, Enzo also enjoys a stimulating game of chess.

When asked his thoughts about attending the Worlds, Enzo replied, "I'm looking forward to this experience. It's something that's only possible if you've made the team. I'm very excited and proud."

Oh, what a birthday present the World Championship title would be! On Tuesday, Derek turns 24 and he's hoping his birthday wish comes true.

And this returning member from last year's Team Canada has the credentials to pull it off. Fresh off a victory in the Canadian Nationals as well as a win in Chicago last May, Derek is hitting on all cylinders right now.

A regular at Sharkey's, Derek sips orange juice when he's playing or practicing. He also enjoys a round of real golf, playing to a 30 handicap.

A man of few words, Derek said he "was very happy to make the team." And I'm sure his teammates feel the same knowing he's on their side in the upcoming battle with the Americans.

Anthony's favorite place to play and practice Golden Tee is Originals in Toronto, where you can find him drinking a Moosehead between shots. "Meeting new friends" is what Pony enjoys the most about Golden Tee.

What Disney character does he most resemble? "Goofy," he said. "Like him, I'm tall and a little odd."

When asked what he thought about his return to the Worlds, Pony responded, "I can't wait to go back and meet all the players from around the world. Last year was a blast, and this year will be even better!"

A member of last year's Team Canada, Dave returns to Orlando with one goal in mind: winning the World Championship and the $15,000 that goes with it.

A four-year veteran of Golden Tee, Dave won this year's Ontario Open to earn a spot on the team. You can usually find him at Originals with his favorite waitresses: Julia, Nicola, and Denise - drinking whatever they suggest!

When asked what Disney character he most resembles, Dave replied, "Buzz Lightyear because he's a good guy but ultimately screws something up at the most inopportune time."

His thoughts on making the team again this year? "Unfreaking Believable! This is one of the best tournaments because you actually get to hang out with the guys. I'm amazed and excited!"

Last year's World Team Captain, Tim returns to Orlando as a Canadian Player of the Year.

Playing Golden Tee since 1999, Tim is considered one of Canada's top players. Another regular at Originals in Toronto, Tim cites the competition and the camaraderie of Golden Tee as his driving forces.

Often traveling with his wife, Christine, Tim is a regular at most of the live tournaments held in North America. He enjoys real golf and is a 12-handicapper.

Commenting on his style of play, Tim quips, "I'm a no-pullback palmer…sort of a quasi-thumber without thumbs…"

When asked how his feelings about representing Canada again at the Worlds, Tim said, "I'm honored to be on the team and I'm sure it will be a lot of fun."

As a member of Team UK, Andy placed fourth in last year's tournament.

Although Andy jokes about his diminutive stature, there's nothing small about this man's Golden Tee game as last year's finish can attest. You can find Andy at either the Ship Inn in East Grinstead or the Walrus and Carpenter in Monument. Depending on how he's spinning the ball will determine what he'll be drinking. If things are going well, he'll be sipping lager. If not so well, it's vodka... or water…

Andy's family is supportive of his 12+ hours-per-week Golden Tee commitment. Especially at tournament time. "The money is good," he said. "And Sandra will be accompanying me to the tournament. We may even see her when she's not shopping," he quipped.

"Which Disney character is most like me? I'm sure my wife would suggest Dopey."

When asked to comment on representing his country in the Worlds, Andy responded, "It's brilliant to get here a second time. I am lucky and privileged, and I hope to improve on last year's performance."

Steve started playing Golden Tee in 1998 at the Snooker Club where he still enjoys a Guinness or two while spinning the trackball. When asked about his thoughts of last year's tournament, Steve said that he "truly enjoyed meeting great people with a passion for Golden Tee."

Of all the Disney characters, Steve claims to resemble King Louie the closest. "I like him because he's a swinger - and I'm the king of the swingers!"

Steve is excited about representing England again at the Worlds. "It's just great to be here again and I hope to do better than last year."

The newest member of Team Europe hails from Manchester, home of the world-famous soccer team (or as Neil would correct you, "football team").

He's been a steady Golden Tee player since 1997 and still spends 10 hours or so each week practicing and playing. Neil won the first-ever Golden Tee European title this year and is fast becoming the top player on his side of the Atlantic.

Neil's favorite pub to play Golden Tee is the Sports Café in Manchester where he enjoys a pint of (you guessed it!) Guinness while playing.

When asked his thoughts about representing England (and Europe) at the Worlds, Neil replied, "I'm looking forward to the tough challenge of playing against the best in the business."

The man in the kilt is back!

Davy made headlines last year when he wore his kilt during the individual competition at the Worlds. A native of Paisley, Davy can often be found at the Lord Lounsdale pub spinning a few while downing a pint or two.

Davy's family is very supportive of his Golden Tee playing…"especially when the checks arrive!," he noted. When asked which Disney character he most resembled, Davy said, "Happy of the 7 Dwarfs, but I'm sure my wife would say Dopey."

This smiling Scotsman is very excited about competing in the Worlds again this year. "Qualifying last year was unbelievable and the experience was second to none, but to qualify again - I just can't put into words (believe it or not!)."
