When asked his sentiments about the World Championship, Phil said, “I am so glad I made it this year. It’s too bad my first-born child was due the same weekend as the tournament last year, or this would could have been my second time around.”

Since Neil’s initial World Championship appearance in 2003, his name has become commonplace on live event leaderboards on both sides of the Atlantic. Whether he is playing in the Player’s Charity Championship in Palatine, Illinois, or the European Championship in London – this Brit has game.

As an active Golden Tee player since 1997, “Lord” Neil has matured into one of England’s best. Neil can often be found at the White Hart, in Cheadle, spinning rounds and drinking (ironically) Guinness with his pals.

Neil is very excited about making the team for a second-straight time. “I am immensely proud to be making the World Team once again,” he said. “Hopefully I will be part of the first international victory and emulate the Ryder Cup thrashing dished out at Oakland Hills this year!”

Christopher Naylor

Chris calls Peterborough, England, his home, where he and his wife, Andrea, live. A devout “thumber” when he plays Golden Tee, Chris has always been attracted to the game because of its high stakes prize money. When he is not honing his video golf skills at his favorite pub, the Park, the 33-year-old European Champion enjoys playing real golf and football (or soccer for the Yanks).

“Nails” is extremely proud to be playing on the World Team for the second time in 2004. When asked his thoughts on making the squad, Chris simply replied, “I am very, VERY happy!

In regards to his first World Team qualification, John replied, “I am still in shock! I am really looking forward to meeting everyone in Orlando.”

This 29-year-old can be found spinning rounds of golf at the Prince of Wales Hotel, where he also works. A non-beer drinker, Khoi prefers an occasional scotch or vodka drink when he is socializing with his friends and enjoys shooting pool when he is not rolling the trackball.

When asked his thoughts about representing the Aussies in the World Championship, Khoi responded, “It will be fantastic putting a face to the names I’ve seen on the leaderboards. I am also looking forward to learning a thing or two.”

Danny has been playing Golden Tee since 2000 and enjoys the game because it brings friends together for fun and competition. With his traditional “palming” style of GT play, Danny is hoping to top his middle-of-the-road performance from the 2003 World Championship.

Regarding this year’s contest, Danny said, “Competing in this tournament again is a dream in itself. To be able to play against the best in the world will be an unforgettable experience.”

World Team – NEW ZEALAND

Martin Awatere

In 2003, the 28-year-old’s shocking run for the World Champion title was stopped just short of the final round and this year he is hoping to continue where he left off.

“Last year was great,” the New Zealand Champion said, “but this year I want the title. It’s that simple. I am fortunate to have another chance to mix it up with the best in the world,” he added.

When he is not playing Golden Tee, Martin enjoys a more aggressive sport – rugby. He and his family live in Wellington, New Zealand.

When asked about making the prestigious team, Geoff replied, “To be able to represent my country in anything is an honor. I am stoked to play with the best in the world while flying the Kiwi flag!”
