GOLDEN TEE TEAM USA 2005 - LIVE QUALIFIER |
 After
two months of intense online qualification, Golden Tee LIVE players across
the U.S. set their sights on the live Team USA Qualifier on October 15th
at Mazzys in Marietta, Georgia.
Over 1,000 players played 10 games on each Golden Tee LIVE course to
achieve a scoring average that ranked as one of the top 72 averages in the
country! A record shattering minimum score of 25.42 was the qualifying
cut and Chris Litzinger, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was the #1 qualifier with a
remarkable 29.34.
68 of the 72 qualifiers trekked to Georgia on a crisp fall weekend to
compete for one of the coveted spots on Team USA. With reigning World
Champion, Jeff Harlow, of Florissant, Missouri, and five-time Player of
the Year, Dean Liakakos, of Dayton, Ohio, receiving walk-on spots for the
Team, 14-roster spots were left in contention.
Since the retirement of Golden Tee Fore!, all the players were determined
to not only make this years World Championship, but to prove their
excellence on the new platform, Golden Tee LIVE.
12 machines lined the walls of Mazzys, and players from nearly every
region of the country were in attendance. As the first major event in
quite some time, everyone at Mazzys was anxious, full of energy and good
spirits.
Cumberland, Heather Pointe and Coral Vista were the three courses chosen
for the qualifier and each player competed under the same conditions.
Nearly everyone in the field put up astounding scores, making perfection
the key to qualifying for the team.
