Occasionally in the history of sports, athletes will go through a phase of perfection. Can’t miss, must make, got to win. The past year has been nothing short of historic for Andy as he has reached the pinnacle of GT success and has decided it tastes too sweet to give it up.

Since winning the 2004 Chicago Challenge, Andy went on to compete for Team USA, win the 2004 Tournament of Champions, the 2005 NIV tournament, the 2005 Northwest Open, the 2005 Southern Classic, get inducted into the Golden Tee Society and become the top shooter on more Golden Tee LIVE leaderboards than anyone else on the planet!

But to consummate Andy’s streak of perfection, he wants to add the title of Golden Tee World Champion to his list of accomplishments. “I’m very excited about returning to Orlando for a third year,” the 23-year-old said. “I am hoping to play the best I can this year.”

Andy’s best has proven itself hard to beat in 2005.

An 8-handicapper in regular golf, Haas calls Brubaker’s pub in Akron his home bar, where he spends an estimated 40-hours a week working on his game.

Jim “JJ” Johnsen has been around since the beginning. With a variety of player-run tournament victories under his belt and a few National Championship appearances, it’s hard to believe that this is JJ’s first time qualifying for the prestigious World Championship.

Though he may be a rookie to the event, he is no newbie to the game. This 46-year-old pharmaceutical representative has been playing in competitive Golden Tee tournaments since the late 90’s!

Johnsen’s favorite aspect of Golden Tee LIVE is the Sobe Help Feature because he likes to see his old friend’s face on the game. When he’s not playing at Bennigan’s in Rockville, JJ can be found traveling the globe or swinging clubs on the real links.

JJ is excited to be competing in Orlando and is looking forward to helping the USA win back the cup.

He’s back. Graig Kinzler is undeniably one of the most recognizable names and faces in the history of Golden Tee Golf. After a brief retirement from the game, the 2002 World Champion is back and as good as ever.

Alongside ex-World Champ, Chris Eversole and current champ, Jeff Harlow, “Kinz” is hoping to win back the Cup and make a run another at the crown. “It feels great to be back and represent the USA,” the 26-year-old professional golf instructor said. “Should be a great week and I’m really looking forward to it.”

When he is not at his home bar of Splinter’s in Palatine, Illinois, playing Golden Tee LIVE an estimated 40 hours a week, Graig can be found working as a local golf instructor or spending time with his girlfriend, Cortney. After playing the game for only three short years, Will has competed in nearly every major event and is proud to make the team for the second straight year. “I am really excited to have made the team two years in a row,” the 29-year-old day trader explains. “I am hoping to do well in Orlando.”

Because of his love for competition, this 27-year-old has climbed through every level of the game to become one of GT’s elite players. “I’ve been practicing for a long time to reach this level and it finally paid off,” Jeff said. “I’m very excited and looking forward to representing the United States in Orlando once again.”

When Jeff isn’t shooting pool or spending time with his girlfriend, Jessica, you can find him drinking a Mountain Dew and playing LIVE over at his favorite tavern in Grand Rapids, The Anchor Bar.

Rodney Roberts is a 26-year-old lumberyard manager from Indianapolis, Indiana, with a remarkable knack for Golden Tee Golf and a focus that is sure to carry him to the top.

Besides playing in the 2004 Golden Tee Tournament of Champions last December, this is the largest tournament that “Hotrod” has ever qualified for. “I am speechless,” Rodney said when asked his thoughts about making the team. “This is the biggest accomplishment I have ever had in Golden Tee. It’s all due to my teacher, Chad Schrump.”

After learning to play from Indiana’s top player, Rodney has now graduated to become the state’s premier player. An avid golfer and four-wheeling enthusiast, Rodney can be found at Buffalo Wild Wings in Plainfield, Indiana, honing his GT LIVE skills during his spare time.

Rodney loves the LIVE aspect of the new game and is looking forward to an exciting weekend in Orlando.

Dayton Root began playing Golden Tee Golf in October of 2000 and the kind Texan’s name has been a mainstay on every major GT leaderboard ever since! “Root” hails from Houston, where he plays Golden Tee Golf at his favorite bar, Mama’s Café. Living close to the likes of GT superstars Ryan Bourgeois and Tim Baker, even Dayton’s social rounds of GT are as tough to win as any live event. And this guy puts up the scores to prove it.

With a score of –71 in the three-course Team USA Qualifier, Root quietly made the cut and qualified for his first-ever World Championship appearance. When asked his thoughts about making the tournament Dayton replied, “I’m thrilled! I’m disappointed Ryan didn’t make it, but then again – it’s good to be back on top!”

Dayton’s favorite feature of Golden Tee has always been the ability to win money and he is hoping for that big $15,000 payday in Orlando.

Like many of his Ohioan comrades, Steven plays GT at Dean Liakakos’ King’s Table Billiards in Dayton, Ohio and is a devoted “thumb player”.

“I’m so happy I have made the team,” Steven exclaims. “I made it in 2002, missed the cut in 2003, couldn’t play in 2004 and now I am finally back! The World Championship is one of the best tournaments I have ever played in,” he adds.

Steven’s wife, Sarah, is planning on making the trip to support her husband in Orlando.
