Seconds after the announcement of this year's Golden Tee World Championship on Goldentee.com, the game's biggest fans pegged 2007 as a year of change. Sin City took the place of Orlando as the host city and the bustling Tilted Kilt Pub inside the Rio All-Suite Casino in place of Friday's Front Row. Eight new faces joined Team USA due to the new "For The Love of the Game Selection Draft" system in place of traditional qualification and the World Team featured two additional Canadians in place of the absent New Zealand team.

While the winds of change were blowing strong in 2007, camaraderie, friendship, and competition remained World Championship staples. Whether they traveled from Cape Town, South Africa or Chicago, Illinois, they came to the Tilted Kilt to play Golden Tee and celebrate the brotherhood of the game.

Festivities kicked of Sunday morning, March 25 as both the World Team and Team USA officially convened at the Tilted Kilt Pub to shake hands and take part in the event's orientation. Players received a full set of team gear, complete with Adidas® apparel and Top Flite® Golden Tee LIVE golf balls. Event emcee and IT marketing director Gary Colabuono went through the official details of the event, including the schedule and tournament rules. The highlight of the orientation was the announcement of a new pairing system for the Ryder Cup-style Team Competition where Team USA captain, Chris Eversole and World Team co-captains, Phil Marsh (UK) and Enzo Polidori (CAN), would swap pairing sheets and be given a chance to choose their opponents.

"In the past the strategy of this process lied solely in the captains' pairings," Colabuono explained. "This time they were able to make their pairs and then swap sheets to choose their opponents. Now, the success of their team is dependant on their match up decisions. Just like the pros in the Ryder Cup!"

The highly anticipated pairings were announced later that Sunday during the World Championship Welcome Banquet. Players and guests enjoyed a steak and lobster dinner fit for a king and the evening’s entertainment included a chance for every player to talk about what the World Championship from their point of view. Good food, good drink and good friends made for great laughs and set the tone for what would become one of the most enjoyable Golden Tee Golf event's in history.
