For the first time in the history of Golden Tees most storied competition, every Golden Tee player in America will have the opportunity to represent his country at the 2007 Golden Tee World Championship.

And that someone could be you!

In order to qualify for the draft pool for Team USA, a player simply needs to complete 200
18-hole games of Golden Tee LIVE during the 2-month online qualifying portion of the event. Those dates are January 1 through February 28, 2007.

Every player who completes 200 games will be entered into the draft pool for the 8 remaining spots on the team. IT will then select the team members from the draft pool at random. It doesnt matter what a player scores as long as its par or better or how many Golden Tee
Points he collects. He simply needs to play 200 games.

According to Gary Colabuono, ITs marketing director and World Championship commissioner, the recently completed Golden Tee LIVE Regional Championships were the springboard for this change.

There are thousands of players from coast-to-coast who absolutely love this game, he said. We were floored by the response the Regionals generated. Many players traveled hundreds of miles to attend a tournament so they could compete against the best in the game. After witnessing this incredible level of dedication these players exhibited we thought that instead of having these guys play against the best they should play with the best. Thats how this new qualifying format was born.

Tournament officials understand that 200 games in 2 months is a lot to ask of someone, and they realize that its a significant commitment in both time and money.

Only those players with a true love of the game will grind it out and make the effort to play 200 games, Colabuono said. As remarkable as it may sound, we currently have a core group of approximately 150 players who already play over 100 games each month. Those players are already at the 200 game threshold. We know that there are hundreds more who are at least halfway there each month. We really dont know what to expect regarding an increase to this number, but we believe it will double or triple.

We hope that this format strikes a positive chord with the vast majority of players who love this game but just cant spare the time and energy to compete at the professional level regularly, Colabuono said. We wish there were a spot for everyone on the team, but this is as close as we can come to making that happen. Good luck to everyone!
